TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Power Foundation recently awarded a $2,500 scholarship to support a student resident of the Tuscaloosa Housing Authority and as a way to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the April 27, 2011 tornado. The devastating event destroyed Rosedale Apartments and killed nine residents.
This year's recipient was Takayla Burton, a Rosedale resident and graduate of Paul W. Bryant High School who will attend the University of Alabama in the fall. Burton plans to major in business administration.
