We are seeking a Part-Time Teacher/On-Call Substitute to join our team at our Wooden Fish Preschool locations. All sites are play-based and located in Se Portland minutes away from one another. If you are passionate about providing exceptional care to children while fostering each child’s intellectual, social, physical, and moral development in a safe and nurturing environment, we may be the place for you! Experience preferred but we are also willing to train the right person. Starting pay is negotiable and depending on experience. We are seeking an individual with a flexible schedule who can serve as a teacher at our two preschools. Ideally, this person would work part-time hours during the week in addition to fill-in shifts. Must be able to work occasional full day shifts (8 hours). This could lead into a full-time position in the very near future. Ideally, the right candidate for this position would be a believer in play and child-directed learning. They would actively practice respectful communication toward children, trust in children’s natural development, and be willing to work as a team alongside other teachers. Additionally, this person would be able to support children through conflict resolution and be comfortable with big emotions as a natural part of early childhood development. Also preferred: flexibility, positive attitude, and great sense of humor. There is no shortage of laughter when it comes to teaching little humans! Program hours and shifts range between 7:00am and 5:00pm Monday-Friday. Job duties include: Supervising children, setting up and maintaining play spaces, supporting conflict resolution, social-emotional support, observation and assessment, food preparation, diaper changes/potty training support, cleaning, and communicating with families. Must be able to meet physical demands: requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and or pulling up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking may be required. Stooping, squatting, bending, balancing, reaching, and use of hands may occur throughout the workday. Lifting and carrying children ages 2 to 6 years may also occur. Must be capable of working outdoors for 1-2 hour blocks of time in all seasons.
