Description
Hey, what's up? We're Longbox — a drummer, vocalist/rhythm guitarist and bassist. And we're looking for more people for our '90s alt-rock cover band. This one is a little different than some others, though. Reason being, were interested in playing a more expansive set list than most. Sure — we love the go-to alt-rock bands (e.g. Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins and Alice in Chains), and we're gonna play some of that. But we also love all the OTHER stuff. The one-hit wonders. The follow-up hits or semi-obscure acts that you may not think of immediately. Bands like Toadies. Screaming Trees. Folk Implosion. Tripping Daisy. Chalk Farm. Green Apple Quick Step. Dexter Freebish. Harvey Danger. Nerf Herder. Third Eye Blind. Local H. Geggy Tah. Hum. Eels. Dinosaur Jr. The Caulfields. Kula Shaker. Superdrag. Ass Ponys. New Radicals. Collective Soul. Better Than Ezra. Archers of Loaf. The Nixons. The Refreshments. Fastball. Seven Mary Three. Candlebox. Nine Days. Our Lady Peace. Cake. Marcy Playground. Jesus Jones. Soup Dragons. And so on. In other words, the whole alt-rock family tree. And especially the "forgotten" tunes. The kind of songs that make people stop in their tracks, and say, "Whoa! I haven't heard that song in like forever!" The ones people haven't thought about in awhile, and that will really take them back. The folks we still need to complete the lineup are... • A lead player that can handle Stone Gossard's high notes, Kim Thayil's time signature changes and everything in between. Grunge, post-grunge, power-pop, and the whole glorious versatility of the decade. • An agile utility player who can play the keys part on The Verve Pipe's "Photograph," the Vibra-Slap on whatever Cake tune we all like, and maybe even some fill-in rhythm. (Special consideration will be given to women with vocal ability for either of those spots, since we'd really LOVE to be able to do some songs by The Cardigans, Republica, Belly, Letters to Cleo, The Sundays, K’s Choice, Whale, The Breeders, and other lady-led stuff from the era.) Ultimately, age, gender and background are unimportant. The only thing we're looking for is a love for this music, and a desire to help us do it justice. If you have a practice space or are willing to pitch in on one, that would also be awesome. If you're interested, we'd love to talk with you some more. We also have some recordings of our past projects we can send you if you'd like to give US a listen. We're eager to get this thing off the ground, so feel free to hit us up. Thanks for reading. Hope to hear from you soon!
