Description
This is Roger. He is a mix between Treeing Coon Walker, and a Plott Hound.
Roger's story is sad. He was bought as a means to make someone stay in a marriage. It didn't work, and the person who adopted him is no longer there to take care of him. Therefore, he has been an extra responsibility to a mother of three kids, four dogs, goats, chickens and cats ever since he was a puppy. He is now almost 4, and has gotten slightly better, but it's with a heavy heart that we just cannot sustain our lifestyle with him.
He is a large hound dog and he bugles loudly and proudly. He is smart and knows how to open doors. He may pick a fight with a small dog through a fence (even though he lives with 3 other dogs, and they usually keep their space), so it would be best for him to go to a home with no other dogs. This is not to say he is dog aggressive. He gets very excited about other dogs and generally just wants to chase and play.
The small adoption fee is to keep the hoarders at bay. A male Treeing Walker Coonhound can cost anywhere from $600-$6000! A Plott Hound is about $500-$700. $60 is quite a deal!
He would make a great hunting companion. We have attempted to train him to truffle hunt and he took to that willingly, but there is just not enough consistency and attention to keep him trained. So that would also be a good reason to take him. Not to mention he will love you unconditionally.
Texting or calling and leaving a message is probably best, but if those don't work, email is fine too.
