CHEF - Starts 7/28 (Trial/ Interview required) Duties include preparing meals and snacks aboard an 85-foot live-aboard eco-adventure boat in San Diego, CA. This is a crew position and requires overnight trips of 5 days, sometimes more, sometimes less. Cooking aboard a boat requires special attention because of the motion on the sea. Generally, meals are prepared for 30 guests and 9 crew members. This position is supported by an assistant under the direction of the chef, who assists in preparing meals, and in serving meals and cleanup of the galley. We may hire two Chefs in lieu of a galley assistant and “Team Chef" during meals, snacks, preparation, clean up, etc. Preference: Must be 18 years old and be a US citizen, or have authorization to work in the United States. Must have a valid passport. Must be reliable and able to work without direct supervision. Must be able to work in a small galley kitchen with limited space and kitchen utensils. Must be able to plan meals for multiday trips and order all necessary provisions for the entire trip since the boat leaves San Diego for multiday trips and there is not opportunity to get provisions while underway. Must be creative in preparing creative and appetizing meals using supplies on hand. Will train on details for the kitchen and boat routine. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test. Background check/references required Pay: $180/day plus tips of approximately $100/day -Commensurate with experience
