NOFA RI presents an On Farm Workshop: "No Till Cultivation and Soil Fertility" with John Kenny at Big Train Farm August 13, 5 - 7 pm On-Farm Specialty Crop Workshops share experiences and best practices between farmers, apprentices, and gardeners thanks to RIDEM and USDA. John Kenny of Big Train Farm in North Scituate is the owner and manager, with over 20 years of experience as an organic farmer. He also has a biology and chemistry background. He periodically teaches a course in “Soil, Plant and Organic Methods.” He also teaches tractor operations to farmers. His special skill includes soil test interpretation and field planning. Big Train Farm sees soil fertility as the foundation for our organic business. Beginning at the seed-stage of life and until harvest and storage we are concerned about our plants’ nutritional quality.
