Description
Befriending Anxiety will help you understand the role anxiety plays in survival so you can accept and incorporate it into your life. Anxiety is one of the more difficult emotions we experience as humans and it’s on the rise in modern times. This is not without consequence. Anxiety has been linked to poor health, lower quality of lifestyle, difficulty in relationships, and general dissatisfaction with life. You don’t have to be experiencing panic attacks or avoiding social situations before you address anxiety. For many people, anxiety manifests as the slow grind of day-to-day fear and impending doom. This is a difficult way to live. Here’s the hitch though: Anxiety is not your enemy, it’s not something to be conquered or a battle you need to win. In fact, this kind of mentality may prolong or intensify anxiety because you are confirming that you are in danger and must fight. Anxiety is a necessary component of survival. It’s here to keep us alive, but it has gone haywire in our modern world. We are all feeling the effects of this. Befriending Anxiety is a one day, three hour course that focuses on helping you understand the role anxiety plays in survival so you are better able to accept and incorporate it into your life. Drawing from a mix of narrative, cognitive, and mindfulness-oriented perspectives, this class will dive into why anxiety developed and how it keeps us safe. We will learn to understand the role our thoughts play in turning anxiety from simple sensations into problematic stories, and we will learn how to approach these stories with a friendly curiosity in order to unravel them and lessen their impact. Lastly, we will explore and practice multiple techniques to help deal with anxiety in our lives. Befriending Anxiety is $75 per person, it will take place on Saturday, July 31, 2021, in a beautiful space at Playroom Lubbock (6520 University). Space is limited, but I will offer this class again in the future if all spots are taken or if there are enough people who need a different date. I have set the last refund date to be 7 days before the event, but if you need to cancel please reach out to me directly (email [email protected]) and I will try to get someone from the waitlist to take your spot. I will be glad to give you a refund if someone else comes in your place. Key Takeaways from this Class: *Anxiety is necessary for survival *Anxiety is not necessarily uncomfortable in and of itself *You can co-exist with anxiety I will look forward to seeing you!
