In part one of this barber series, Alex will focus on understanding and working with coarse hair. It was one of his biggest struggles when he first started, and he knows that everyone else has experienced the same. It's one thing to cut hair, and another to maintain your schedule busy and to train your clients. It’s essential to know how to give a great experience while still valuing yourself. In the end, how you carry and treat yourself is how your clients will also treat you. Alex Vivar was born and raised in the “Capitol of the World,” Manhattan, NY. He moved to the Hudson Valley at the age of 14, leaving his barber behind. With no barber in the area to trust with his hair, Alex took it upon himself to recreate his NYC fade. While away at college, Alex gained more experience being the ”barber on campus.” He completed his Barber Apprentice in that time and was then nicknamed “Alex The Great” by his schoolmates. Alex enjoys doing modern haircuts and making the haircuts low maintenance and custom to each client. He especially loves teaching clients how to use the right products and tools to style their hair.
