Description
CORAM, NY — A Coram bar was condemned and its owner issued alcohol and beverage control violations during a State Liquor Authority check on Saturday night, Suffolk County police said.
Police said 6th Precinct officers conducted an inspection at Taino's Café & Lounge, located on Middle Country Road, at about 10:30 p.m., and found the bar over its maximum occupancy of 73 people, and the establishment "was condemned due to being unfit for human occupancy."
The owner of the bar, Luis R. Almonte, was charged with purchasing from an unauthorized source and failure to post certain signs within the business, according to police.
The inspection was done in conjunction with State Liquor Authority investigators, as well as the Town of Brookhaven's fire marshals, building inspectors, and an investigator from the law department.
The Town's fire marshals issued 11 summonses for a combination of building, fire, and code violations to the owner, police said.
