Booksweet, your community bookshop, will open August 2021 on the Northside of A2. Celebrate with music, poetry, sweets, and conversation! Booksweet is a new independent community bookshop coming soon to the Northside of Ann Arbor. Join us in celebration of our August 2021 opening at our Community Open House on Thursday, August 12 from 5-8 pm. The Open House will feature... A 6 pm poetry welcome by Tarik Dobbs, an Arab American queer writer and text artist born in Dearborn, Michigan. A 2017 U-M Hopwood Award Recipient, their poems appear in American Poetry Review, Best of the Net, and Poetry Magazine. Their poetry chapbook, Dancing on the Tarmac, was selected by G. Calvocoressi (Yemassee, 2021).Sweet treats by Karma’s Kitchen, handmade with love by your Northside neighbor Ashini Harris.Shop window mural by Lauren McHale.Live music TBA [can't wait 'till we can share more!]And of course...a chance to connect with fellow readers in town.Health and safety protocols... We’ll be setting up directly outside of the shop to ensure the event is as safe and healthy as possible — and to make sure you have enough space inside the shop to discover your next great read. Masks for unvaccinated or high-risk neighbors are encouraged. It's gonna be fun. Hope to see you there!
