A food swap is part silent auction/part village marketplace/part fun-loving open house where your homemade, homegrown, and foraged creations A food swap is part silent auction/part village marketplace/part fun-loving open house where your homemade, homegrown, and foraged creations become your own personal currency for use in swapping with other participants. Diversify your pantry while meeting your friends and neighbors! Who We welcome everyone, as long as you bring something you made, grew, or foraged yourself! You must pre-register to attend.  If you plan to bring a family member or friend who will be swapping their own foods, please register them on a separate ticket. Guests to just observe don't need a ticket. Because we hold a limited amount of space, please update us as soon as possible if you are unable to keep your reserved table.  While production of your goods does not have to be done in a commercial kitchen, we expect that you abide by health laws with regard to food-borne pathogens and cross-contamination. By registering for this event, you acknowledge that you abide by health and safety norms. You also acknowledge the risk associated with any items you will trade for. The organizers cannot and do not inspect kitchens or edible items, and will not assume any risk associated with attending this event or the swapping of goods at this event. This event is voluntary, and each attendee must only attend as they feel comfortable with the risks involved, including those related to ongoing potential exposure to Covid. When Saturday, August 7th, 2021 Swap: 10:00am - 11:00am Please arrive promptly at 10:00am for the start of the swap.  Where **NEW LOCATION: 2609 Seminole Road, Columbia SC 29210 (Hope Church Columbia). Please enter through the side door on the East Wing & proceed to the Fellowship Hall.  What to bring All swap items must be homemade, homegrown, or foraged by you. Think baked goods, jam, pickles, spreads, honey, vinegar, granola, pasta, fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, homemade sausages, backyard eggs … you name it! Bring as little or as much as you like. You can bring a bunch of one thing or multiples of a few different things. The possibilities are endless! This swap will include both food AND crafts, so please feel free to bring either or both. Keep in mind that swappers will be examining and picking up your goods, so be sure to package them in a way that protects the food and makes it clear the amounts you want to swap. We encourage reusable, earth-friendly packaging whenever possible. When packaging - keep quantities in mind, thinking about what would be considered a fair trade. Most items are swapped on a 1-to-1 basis but swapping details are left to the discretion of the participants.  *Note: Due to ongoing Covid precautions, we will not offer our usual community snack table or beverages at this time. However, if you wish to offer small samples of a swappable item at your table, you are welcome to do so.
