Artist. Computer Scientist. Maybe a bit of both. I’m Jake Steinmetz, a community intern for Inspirit. A tech nonprofit built out of Stanford University with the mission to make immersive student learning experiences using technology. As a community intern, my job is to get students interested in STEM by hosting virtual events. My first event is The 21st Century Picasso: Art and Coding Workshop/Competition. This is a one hour free STEM experience aimed at coders and artists of all levels. Attendees will learn the basics of p5, a JavaScript library and editor for making art. During the second half of the event, attendees will make a Picasso inspired masterpiece on their own. All artworks will be judged and winners will get a certificate and a cash prize.
