JGB Redux .. aka Dead Tired

Description

For cosmic reasons [apparently], in this area there are a lot of Dead-Heads. In the past few years, I've heard more locally-live GD music than perhaps the entirety of my adulthood, and that's a long span. As an alternative, yet still pulling from that talent (and fan) base... consider the Jerry Garcia Band. They did some cool covers of OTHERs' music (others besides the GD), and those songs have a similar audience appeal, which as noted above, is strong here. Consider choosing tunes NOT from the GD catalogue; in fact and deliberately, avoid GD tunes (or at least be v.e.r.y selective). Instead, pick tunes from, well anyone really, but tunes "adjacent" to those usually heard. SO - Anyone else just "tired" of the same old and wanna redirect those tendencies? I play a pretty good bass and a so-so guit' - and know the pre-1975 catalogue, just need to remain branched out - so the premise would be: Songs NOT done by the Dead, but belonging to that church. (Perhaps one Dead song per set (or jam-together)). No Song over 6 minutes. OK, rare exceptions, but not every time. Say it and get out. Agree to tunes before get-togethers, but be flexible if some other fun thing happens along the path. Above is a very short list of representative - "adjacent" - tunes; shown here only to convey the idea:
