General Purpose of Job: The Trailer Mechanic performs inspections and repairs on trailers, including doors, roofs, brakes, wheel seals, tires, floors. Essential Functions: Follow a checklist of inspection procedures. Read and interpret diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment such as check light. Raise trailers and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists. Inspect brake systems, and other parts of vehicles Do routine maintenance, lubricating equipment and parts. Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and attach system components. Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment. Lifts and inspects brakes. Basic computer skills. Inspect wheel seals, tires, brakes, and lights Education/Experience/License/Certifications: 1 year experience (preferred) as a Trailer Mechanic Must possess a valid driver’s license CDL preferred Ability to lift up to 100 pounds Excellent reading and writing skills Ability to pass a background check and drug test ASE Certification an asset Shift: 10 hrs. Up to 12 hours of OT are applicable. Typically OT will vary between 1-10 hours per week.
