General Purpose of Job: The Tractor Mechanic performs inspections and repairs on trucks including PM’s, BIT’s, airleak, oil leak, wheel seal repairs Essential Functions: Follows a checklist of inspection procedures. Reads and interprets diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment such as an TECH tool. Raises trucks and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists. Inspects brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles Does routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and parts. Adjusts and aligns wheels, tightens bolts and screws, and attaches system components. Repairs or replaces malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment. Lifts and inspects brakes. Basic computer skills needed to complete tasks. Education/Experience/License/Certifications: 1 year experience (preferred) as a Diesel Mechanic Must possess a valid driver’s license, CDL preferred Ability to lift up to 100 pounds Excellent reading and writing skills Ability to pass a background check and drug test ASE Diesel Certification an asset Shift: 10 hrs. Up to 12 hours of OT are applicable. Typically OT will vary between 1-10 hours per week.
