Description

Please join the MIRA Coalition members and SomerViva in Somerville on Friday, 7/23 to celebrate our immigrant communities! The MIRA (Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy) Coalition and SomerViva, the Somerville Office of Immigrant Affairs, invite you to an afternoon of celebration, recognition, and fun, dedicated to the contributions and achievements of our immigrant communities here in Massachusetts, as we continue to call for a pathway to citizenship to be included in the next recovery package. Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic and the last 18 months of lockdowns, reopening, and recovery, immigrant workers and families have played a vital role on the front lines. It's critical for us all to recognize that contribution, and thank those who have given so much, yet still remain under-appreciated and treated inequitably in so many ways. Please join us! Where: Our celebration will take place in front of the East Somerville Community School at 50 Cross St. When: 4:00 pm-6:00 pm on Friday, July 23 What: Music, ice cream, immigrant and community speakers, and more! How Much: It's completely free! Just show up and show your support. The Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) is the largest organization advocating for the rights and integration of immigrants and refugees across our Commonwealth. Founded in 1987, we serve more than 1 million foreign-born people through policy analysis and advocacy, institutional organizing, education and strategic communications.  MIRA is powered by our 130+ members, including grassroots organizations; legal, social and health service providers; faith-based organizations, and civil and human rights advocacy groups.
