WILMINGTON, MA — Former candidate Mark Nelson is running again for the Wilmington Board of Selectmen in the special election to replace Jomarie O'Mahoney, he said Friday.
Nelson took out nomination papers for the Sept. 2 election, he confirmed.
O'Mahoney resigned from the board June 14 due to a move out of town and the remaining board members recently voted to set the special election. Candidates have until Monday to take out nomination papers and until Thursday to return them.
Aug. 13 is the registration deadline. Polls will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 2.
Nelson has previously run for the Board of Selectmen multiple times, including in 1997, 2004 and 2011. In 2004, he called on the Olin Corporation to pay to cleanup the chemical site.
