WALTHAM, MA — Boston Children's Hospital released a $435 million expansion plan on July 1 that would extend services west and south of Boston and include upgrades to the hospital's existing facility in Waltham. Hospital officials said they intend to file a Determination of Need application with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, seeking approval to renovate and equip the Waltham property at 9 Hope Avenue. The hospital is also looking to lease, construct, and equip a building located at 200 Libbey Parkway in Weymouth and acquire property located at 380 First Avenue in Needham to construct an ambulatory surgical center and facility zoned for pediatric medical use. According to The Boston Globe, the Waltham building would include an 18-bed infusion unit, imaging, and sleep and psychiatric programs. Boston Children's Hospital's new expansion plan comes during the construction of a $1 billion clinical building on its Longwood Campus. The last phase of that project is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.
