COMMUNITY CHEST SEEKS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR The Community Chest of Port Washington, one of Port’s longest-serving and most respected non-profit organizations, has added a bullet-point to its mission: the search for a new executive director to lead,, strengthen and expand the role of the Chest in the community. The Chest’s longtime Executive Director, Julie Meer, recently retired, leaving the Chest with a challenge: to replace Julie and to build on the programs that she established. With annual grants that range from $2,500 to $50,000, the Chest supports 26 local non-profits organizations ranging from the Parent Resource Center and PYA/PAL to PW Senior Citizen Center. The Chest embraces Port Washington-based organizations that are devoted to preserving and promoting the quality of life in Port Washington. “Our search for a new executive director has begun,” states Drew Hershkowitz, president of the Chest. He continues: “We are looking for a dynamic individual who knows Port, who has a passion for helping community members, who has experience in fundraising and who is up-to-date on technical skills.” Drew states that candidates should send their resumes to [email protected]. This search process for a new Executive Director is expected to last until mid-July with a new director beginning by September 1.
