Route 9 In Framingham Blocked By Flooding

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A busy portion of Route 9 in Framingham was not passable Friday morning amid heavy downpours linked to Tropical Storm Elsa. The roadway underneath the Route 126 overpass typically floods during heavy rains. But Elsa was dropping heavier-than-usual-rain across the region. A city spokesperson said Framingham police were standing by to redirect traffic, and barriers would be erected to stop vehicles from entering Route 9 from Route 126. But in order to improve the basins, MassDOT has to move a salt shed nearby. That project is in the works, but may not even go out to bid until 2022.
