Updated 1:15 p.m. STAMFORD, CT — With Tropical Storm Elsa moving away from the region, roads are beginning to open in Stamford. According to the latest update from the Stamford Police Department, the only roadway that remains closed in the city is South State Street between Elm Street/Lafayette Avenue. Sgt. Jeffrey Booth of the Stamford Police Department said water is going down in the area of I-95, where flooding has impacted several roads. "There's still a couple areas that are closed," Booth said, noting a disabled car under the railroad bridge. The operator tried to drive through water. "The water just got low enough to call a tow truck. Once it gets out, we're going to open up Elm Street [soon]." As a result of the disabled vehicle, there is blockage on South State Street and Lafayette Street. "It's a bit of an issue at this point," Booth said. Original post, 9:35 a.m. East Main Street at Myrtle Avenue remains closed this morning due to flooding. It had closed a few hours ago and then reopened. Elm Street at South State Street remains closed. Motorists are also asked to avoid Elm Street at South State Street, and Research Drive. #StamfordCT East Main at Myrtle is once again CLOSED. Numerous Police and Fire units are out all over the city.
