OSWEGO, IL — Roads throughout Oswego are being resurfaced throughout July and August, the village announced. D Construction, Inc. is helming the projects, and the work is scheduled to be finished in mid-August. Traffic controls were placed this week where construction will take place. Two streets — Farmington Lakes Drive and Kensington Drive — are also being paved with a more sustainable repaving option, known as hot-in-place recycling. "HIR mills the asphalt, heats it along with a binding agent, and relays it in one pass, reducing the inconvenience to homeowners and eliminating the haul off of milled material," the village said in a news release. The process can burn parts of trees from the heat generated but doesn't typically affect their long-term health, officials said. Some curbs and sidewalks will also be repaired in this round of repairs. If no parking signs are up on the street, the village said this indicates construction will begin in a few days. Traditional resurfacing will take place on these streets: Main Street - Washington to Van BurenBoulder Hill Pass - 34 to Village limitFifth Street – US 34 to YoakumRosebush LaneStephens RoadNorthgate DriveBell CourtWooley Road - Plainfield to Oswego Police DepartmentStation Drive - Mill to the north limitBrockway DriveBohannon Circle (east half)The alley between 121 and 113 Main StreetThe alley between Madison, Main, Jackson, and Jefferson Streets Officials noted that access to driveways might be temporarily blocked at some points during the construction, but contractors will inform homeowners beforehand. Those who can't access their driveways will be allowed to park overnight on adjacent streets, according to the village.
