Description

Jackson County dog and cat owners can schedule their dog or cat for the next Jackson County Animal Shelter “By Appointment Only, Drive-Thru Pet Chip-A-Thon” being held Saturday July 31st. Permanent microchips will be implanted and registered at just $20 per chip for Jackson County dog, cat, puppy and kitten owners. Payment by Cash or Credit Card only (no checks). Note, that if owner contact information ever changes, the owner is responsible for notifying/updating the chip registration information. To make your pet’s appointment, call prior to the date. Pet age and weight restrictions (such as way too young or too underweight) may apply. The shelter is located at 5595 So. Pacific Hwy (99) in Phoenix, near Talent. Microchips do not replace legal requirements to license dogs nor the convenience of attaching a personalized I.D. tag to your dog’s or cat’s collar. According to statistics, one in three family pets will get lost during their lifetime. Without permanent identification, approximately 90 percent will not return home. Yet, there are also many heartwarming stories of pets who have been lost for months, and even years, who are finally reunited with owners, perhaps even in a different state, after being scanned for a registered microchip. Don’t let your dog or cat be one of thousands who can’t be returned due to lack of permanent ID. For additional reference information about this event, check www.fotas.org/chip-a-thon
