BERKELEY, CA — The victim of a hit-and-run crash last month has died, and the suspect remains at large, the Berkeley Police Department said.
The victim, a 50-year-old Oakland man who had been hospitalized with critical injuries, died on June 26, nearly two weeks after the collision according to police.
The June 14 collision was reported at around 9:35 p.m. on Telegraph Avenue between Webster Street and Ashby Avenue, police said.
According to witnesses, the victim was in crisis, laying down in the roadway on Telegraph Avenue, when he struck by a vehicle traveling northbound, police said.
The suspect vehicle is described as lowered, dark-colored, mid 1990's sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima, with tinted windows.
The vehicle was last seen driving northbound into Berkeley.
