SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Tropical Storm Elsa swept across Long Island Friday morning, sparking some power outages, flooding, and heavy rain. But in Southampton Town, there were no major issues, Supervisor Jay Schneiderman said.
Heavy rains began Friday morning, with the storm moving quickly over the East End, Schneiderman said. "There has been some ponding and pooling of water on the roadways. There's a tree branch or two down," Schneiderman said.
One downed branch that was blocking a westbound lane on County Road 39 was moved quickly by the Suffolk County Department of Public Works, the supervisor said.
As of Friday morning, there were 67 customers out of power townwide, with the majority in Southampton Village, Schneiderman said.
