PHOENIX, AZ — A 64-year-old man carrying a water gun was shot and killed by police in north Phoenix Thursday night, Phoenix police said.
The man died at a nearby hospital after being shot in the area of 27th and Northern avenues around 9 p.m., after officers responded to a mental health call, according to police.
The officers who responded to the call offered assistance to the man, who then walked through the door and announced that he had a gun, police said.
The man walked out the door with an object that police said resembled a handgun, leading to one sergeant and three officers shooting at him, according to police.
