White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki Targets GOP Again With Her Lies (FreedomBeacon.com)- When she’s not telling people she’ll “circle back,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is just flat-out lying. And she can’t seem to stop doing it. Last week, Psaki reiterated her inaccurate and baseless claim that Republicans have long wanted to defund the police – despite Republicans spending the entirety of 2020 fighting back against Democrat pushes to defund and “reimagine” the police in the wake of the death of George Floyd. Psaki told the inexcusable and shocking lie on Wednesday and failed to name a single Republican politician, activist, or commentator who has ever supported defunding the police. Wouldn’t you think that if she believed it to be true, she’d have at least one example that proves it? Peter Doocy calling Psaki out, noting that she believes Republicans want to defund the police, and asking for an example. He explained how Psaki based her comments around Republican opposition to the “American Rescue Plan” – Biden’s hugely expensive COVID-19 response that contained a multitude of policy directives and funding for non-COVID-related projects. “Which Republican ever said that they did not like the American Rescue Plan because they wanted to defund the police?” Doocy asked. Psaki responded by saying that the president ran and won more votes than any candidate in history (does anyone believe that?) on a platform of boosting funding for law enforcement, after Republicans spent decades trying to cut the cops program. Can you believe this woman? Psaki’s tactic is clinging on to the vaguest semblance of truth and extrapolating to the point that the statement becomes a lie. Meanwhile, Democrats like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jamaal Bowman are actively supporting defunding the police. In this instance, AOC is being more honest. The dangerous bill that Democrats snuck through last night doesn’t focus on common sense solutions like improving training, enhancing transparency, or reinforcing accountability. Instead, it forces mountains of new regulations on police departments without providing any money to comply. In Washington-speak, that’s called an unfunded mandate. So what exactly does that mean? House Republicans asked that very question earlier this week in a letter sent to the Congressional Budget Office, and what we found was staggering. It means hundreds of millions in new costs for police departments—the equivalent of 3,000 cops or more taken off of the streets. That would mean 3,000 fewer men and women in uniform keeping our communities safe. And there are many other consequences, including: Eliminating qualified immunity as a defense to police officers. Eliminating qualified immunity keeps officers from making crucial, life or death decisions to stop a lethal threat. Banning “no-knock” warrants in drug cases. Even when the occupants are known to be armed and dangerous, or where the evidence sought could be destroyed. Banning military equipment from law enforcement agencies. Military equipment is vital in life saving situations. A blanket ban puts citizens and law enforcement officers in danger. Creating a federal database of all law enforcement officers. Without providing protections for officers wrongly accused or misidentified. The evidence from the last year couldn’t be clearer: fewer police means more crime. If Democrats were serious about meaningful reform they would have come together with Republicans to pass a bipartisan solution that protects American citizens and the men and women charged with protecting them. Tragically, with their vote to defund the police last night, Democrats showed they want to do the opposite.
