Looking for Diesel Technician/Mechanic experienced in heavy truck & trailer maintenance and repairs. Geologic Exploration is a privately owned business and has been in business for 30 years. Normal Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm Mechanic Responsibilities: · Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts, greasing, etc.) on diesel-fueled vehicles, light duty trucks, trailers, and drilling equipment, aiming to keep functionality and longevity · Provide routine inspections of vehicles & trailers -including suspensions, steering and exhausts · Assess vehicles and/or machinery to accurately diagnose and repair · Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues -brakes, electrical, suspension, driveline, brakes, air systems, and other associated parts · Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job · Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives · Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards. · Perform DOT inspections and complete all forms necessary · Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options. · Establish working relationship with supervisor(s) to determine vehicle and/or machinery defects or problems · Adhere to company work safety policies · Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades · Maintain maintenance & repair records · Monitor inventory and order new parts, when necessary, verify receipt · Assemble mechanical components according to specifications. · Maintain garage space by keeping shop equipment operating by preventative maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns, preforming repairs, or consulting supervisor for repairs · Make emergency field repairs on all equipment · Perform minor welding and fabrication · Maintain and repair small engines · Create effective working relationships with co-workers and outside venders · Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing · Increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical and regulation publications Requirements: · Proven experience as diesel truck mechanic · In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, components, operational mechanisms, and electrical systems · Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment · Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools · Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods · Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment · Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc. · High school diploma · Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred · This position requires that you have your own tools normally associated with repair of diesel trucks/engines/trailers · Ability to diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel fueled engines · Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic systems · Be comfortable working in a dusty, non-climate-controlled shop environment. · Able to work outdoors in the elements, on side of road, on job sites · Able to lay on your back to work upside down · Able to repetitively pull, push, reach above head, stand, walk, kneel, bend, and reach. · Ability to stand and work for entire shift. · Able to repetitively lift 40+ pounds · Strong work ethic · Ability to problem solve and work independently · Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers · Commitment to life-long learning to keep pace with new technology · Works well as part of a team · Works in an organized, clean, and safe manner · A valid driver’s license with good driving record, CDL preferred · Cheerful and helpful attitude · Excellent problem-solving skills · Keen attention to detail · Proof of eligibility to work in the US. · Read, write, and understand instructions in English. · Steel-toed shoes.
