This free community event will feature Cross Fit & Yoga classes, Self defense demos, music and fun activities for kids. The Prince George’s County Police Department Training and Education Division is excited to partner with Crossover Church to host the first "Before the Badge" Community Health & Wellness Fair. In the summer of 2020, County Executive Angela Alsobrooks created a work group to present new ideas for police reform. One of the recommendations was to improve the relationship between the police department and the community starting while new recruits are still in the police academy. In response, the Prince George’s County Police recruit class session 145 is hosting this event as a community service project. This will give our newest members an appreciation and understanding of the community that they are getting ready to serve. This will also give the community an opportunity to meet and pray with the officers before they graduate. We have several exciting activities planned including CrossFit, a self defense demonstration and a relaxing session of yoga. We will also have music with a DJ. All of these activities will be led by PG County officers. We have also partnered with several local organizations who will have information stations to provide information on various health related topics. Participants should a mat or towel for yoga and we will be accepting canned goods to donate to Crossover Church's food pantry. This event is completely free and open to the public.
