This will be an intensive day-long, hands-on class to build a 20' x 60' hoophouse from scratch. We are hosting an intensive, day-long, hands-on class to build a 20’ x 60” hoop house from scratch using mostly materials you can get at a hardware store. You will be taken, step by step, through the whole process and get a handout with a materials list and basic instructions to build your own. Our teacher, Lisa Helm of Dayton Urban Grown, has built 9 hoophouses from scratch including 4 as workshops and taught a class on how to build them at several organic farming conferences including the 2017 OEFFA Conference and 2021 Pasa Conference. A DIY hoop house can be a third of the price of buying a kit and is not that difficult. If you are growing for market, a hoophouse will pay for itself in less than one year, especially if you are growing all winter!
