ILIE VADUVA: PARTITIONS SERIES -FIRST INSTALLMENT: THE CALENDAR JULY 16 - SEPT 3, 2021 - 4TH FLOOR GALLERY “Symbols are often used to create opposing tribal identities, producing entrenched conflict. One symbolic identity that can transcend these kinds of fractures is the birth sign, which can reorganize people around a different, possibly more neutral, numeric, and universal principle. The Calendar is the first installment of The Partitions Series, which is a visual exploration / interpretation of the zodiac signs”.– Ilie Vaduva 6TH ANNUAL ART EDUCATOR SHOW -JUNE 18 - JULY 16, 20213RD FLOOR GALLERY ARTconnectED, The Illinois Art Education Association and BLICK Art Materials, in partnership with the Bridgeport Art Center, are excited to bring educators together for the 6th Annual Art Educator Exhibition! Art educators from all across the Chicagoland area are invited to participate in this one-of-a-kind event, an exhibition focused on celebrating the creative talents of the art educator. The Illinois Art Educator Exhibition is a juried show with up to $1,000 in Awards, featuring over 100 works of art from city, suburban, public, and private educators. PROJECT ONWARD PRESENTS: - THE COLORED PENCIL SHOW Colored pencils are a wonderfully dynamic medium that are highly beloved by many of our Project Onward artists. They are capable of rendering art styles that are expressive and abstract, or detailed and photo realistic. While they're slow to use compared to wet media like paint (in terms of laying down color), they’re almost unparalleled when it comes to control and detail. Colored pencils are famous for their translucent quality, which can give artwork a striking luminous appearance, especially on textured paper. For this exhibition, we have invited international award winning colored pencil artist and Project Onward Volunteer, Tracy Frein, to guest curate and work with our artists on their techniques. The Colored Pencil Show is a culmination of these efforts and our artists' love letter to the medium.
