This is a two day workshop. Linda Otey will walk you through the entire process of designing and making your very own barn quilt! This is a two day workshop, due to the nature of the process.Linda Otey has been creating and perfecting her barn quilts for several years. She has displayed them at local arts and crafts fairs, farmer's markets and the Virginia Tourism booth at the Hillsville Flea Market building. She is a local Wythe County resident and artisan. A barn quilt is a large plywood board painted with a block print similar to fabric quilts made throughout history. These large quilt squares are typically displayed on barns throughout the United States and Canada.  You will be provided with a 2ft x 2ft birch plywood board and a choice of paint colors and materials for this project. This is a two day workshop, due to the nature of the process.We will be meeting on Saturday, October 16, 9:30am to 12:30pm and Sunday October 17, 1pm to 4pm All materials are included. Participants will leave with their very own barn quilt.  Jen Otey is the owner and manager of Rose Cottage School of Art. She has been a professional artist for 18 years...showing her work in galleries and publishing it in books, calendars, magazines and websites worldwide. She has been teaching art classes and workshops since 2004.
