NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP PARKS AND RECREATION LEAD TEACHER OPENING Northampton Township Preschool Potpourri is seeking an experienced Lead Preschool Teacher to help young minds explore, discover and understand the world around them. A preschool teaching position requires the teacher to create an enriched learning experience and a positive environment where the child will be celebrated and encouraged. Our program serves preschool children ages 3 – 5 years old in a supportive environment that shares our passion for early childhood education. Preschool Lead Teacher Responsibilities Include: •Ensure children are supervised at all times •Build children’s esteem •Be alert and responsive to children •Establish routines and provide positive guidance •Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable •Use developmentally appropriate teaching methods. •Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand •Observe children and make note of progress daily •Become familiar with and follow licensing regulations •Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate preschool program for young children •Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program •Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and story telling •Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times •Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities •Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities •Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts •Be respectful of children and parents •Promote literacy and early education •Communicate with parents and professionals •Discuss children’s development with parents •Discuss identified problems and needs with professionals as appropriate •Position is 20 hours a week •Ability to work flexible hours Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am – 1:45 pm, September thru June Qualifications •2 years’ experience working with children CDA or Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education preferred. •Ability to work effectively with diverse staff, parents, and community members •Experience with conflict resolution •Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to curriculum planning •Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed •Must be able to lift 30 lbs. •Submit to background checks Skills/Personal Attributes The Preschool Teacher must possess the following skills and attributes: •teaching skills •team building skills •supervisory skills •analytical and problem-solving skills •decision making skills •effective verbal and listening communications skills •stress management skills •time management skills •ability to maintain strict confidentiality Applications should be submitted to Barbra Primavera, Program Supervisor, either in Person at the Northampton Recreation Center located at 345 Newtown Richboro Rd.  Richboro, Pa 18954, via email at [email protected] or mail to: Barbra Primavera Parks and Recreation 55 Township Road, Richboro PA 18954.
