Description

ALTADENA, CA — Foster children were able to get their COVID-19 vaccinations Wednesday thanks to an immunization effort by Five Acres, an Altadena-based foster care nonprofit, according to a report from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. The nonprofit worked with Carbon Health of San Francisco to provide foster children in Altadena between the ages of 12 and 17 with vaccinations against the coronavirus. Children are among the most vulnerable against COVID-19 — especially the more transmissible delta variant — because many are still too young to get vaccinated, according to CNN. The COVID-19 vaccines were initially available for adults 18 or older until May when the Pfizer vaccine became available for children as young as 12. Visit the San Gabriel Valley Tribune's website to read the rest of the story on foster children in Altadena getting COVID-19 vaccinations.
