BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Birmingham police officer was arrested Monday and charged with driving under the influence. Officer Lacandra Barlow was not on duty when she was arrested by Alabama State Troopers.
"Immediate actions were taken by the Birmingham Police Department's Internal Affairs Division," Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said. "Barlow was relieved of duties and reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of further internal investigation."
Barlow's arrest come in the same week that another Birmingham police officer, Matthew Wilcox, was arrested for rape. Wilcox resigned Tuesday and is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail with a $25,000 bond.
