Job Title: Truck Driver, Local Reports to: Dispatch FLSA Classification: Nonexempt Status: Full-Time, Permanent EEO-1: Operatives Normal Work Hours and Days: Often required to work weekends as well as during the week. (May require overtime). The schedule may be adjusted to accommodate workload. Approved by: Lane Keator Revised: 6/13/2021 Summary: Responsible to transport abnormal freight and cargo from pickup to delivery location (to include but not limited to modules and equipment). Essential Functions: • Load and unload various equipment from delivery truck • Monitor and secure all equipment while loading, unloading and in-route • Obtain permits for oversize loads • Always maintain driving logbook Other Tasks: • Load and unload various equipment and machines from or to delivery truck • Performs other related duties, as assigned • Assist other shop and operations staff as requested Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee Pilot Car Operators, while on duty. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably able to perform other tasks satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: • Fluidly drive and haul industrial trucks and various construction equipment of extreme weight • Three years of job-related experience • Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver license and medical card • Must be able to operate and field repair hydraulic trailers Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: • Knowledge of load permits and state and federal truck driving regulations • Knowledge of and ability to safely secure loads for transport • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions • Ability to assess and record written data and information • Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand • Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions • Ability to work independently with little supervision • Ability to ensure that safety and incident reporting procedures are followed • Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor • Ability to meet delivery schedule with dependability and consistency • Ability to operate a commercial truck • Ability to drive construction equipment for axle loading and unloading purposes Physical Requirements: Ability to frequently lift and move at least 75lbs and climb on and off loads. Ability to sit and drive for long periods. Working Conditions: Work is performed in the equipment yard and at project sites with moderate to loud noise levels. Much work time is spent on the road driving to and from pick-up and delivery sites, including night driving. Must be able to work in the outdoors in extreme cold as well as adverse arctic weather conditions for extended periods of time.
