I believe the very reasons you state in favor of helping people is the very reason that won't happen. Drug addicts, the homeless, many people in prison, and some who get out, will never work....and that keeps unemployment numbers down. And most of all, there are powerful people who need the drug addict for the life giving dollar he somehow always produces until the day of his death. It also gives many workers out there, some of whom work two jobs or more, the chance to look down and criticize "them bums", which gives these hard workers a sense of self esteem, and also a reason to keep working that seems to be lacking in their jobs.....service jobs most likely. "Smile now, they'll tip you more!" Perhaps if we had many job opportunities for the "not so bright" of us doing such things as cleaning up America, her rivers, oceans, deserts, mountains, and planting trees, helping repair bridges and roadways, many people wouldn't resort to life destroying drug use. Otherwise, give them free drugs so that they don't have to steal or sell their bodies. It's the humane thing to do. Screw the pusher. And corporate America. 🍔 🌮 🍟
