Seeking collaborators for vocal harmony driven alt acoustic project
Meets
East Providence RI
Description
Hi there! I'm a vocalist/songwriter/guitarist, and I'm hoping to meet some folks in the Providence / EP area to develop a new project together. I would describe the target sound as a vocal harmony-driven acoustic alternative / alt rock with occasional prog (e.g., odd meter) and world music (e.g., Middle Eastern, klezmer, flamenco) elements. MULTI-INSTRUMENTALISTS/VOCALISTS In a perfect world, it would be amazing to connect with a violinist or clarinet player who really enjoys singing and has a passion for interesting and, at times, challenging/dissonant vocal harmonies. But I'd also be thrilled to meet up with folks who play any of the following instruments: bass, clarinet, violin, viola, cello, (lead) guitar (or really any other solo instruments). The songs have tons of space for a lead instrumentalist to get creative and really leave their mark. And, again, because many of the songs feature multi-part vocal harmonies, I'm really hoping to meet folks who enjoy singing, too! DRUMMER/PERCUSSIONIST/VOCALIST I'd also love to find a drummer or hand percussionist who enjoys world music, occasional odd meter / odd time signatures, abrupt dynamic / tempo changes, and experimenting with different textures. Again, an interest in singing would be ideal as well! Also, this is more icing-on-the-cake, but an interest in/ability to incorporate electronic elements, samples etc would be really welcome, too. At this point, I'm just looking for some like-minded folks to have fun making music together. I'm in my mid-30s (with a family, full-time job, etc), so my immediate goals are pretty modest - I'd like to write and record, work toward playing some local shows, and then just see where things lead from there. I have a rehearsal studio at my home in East Providence. I have several sample tracks posted on my Bandmix profile that aren't completely representative of the target sound, but they'll at least give you some idea of where I'm coming from: https://www.bandmix.com/chrisvbprovidence/ So if the sound/vibe I've described seems like something that might overlap with your interests, I'd love to hear from you! Some influences: Radiohead, Alanis Morissette, Jose Gonzalez, Iron and Wine, The Civil Wars, City and Colour, Bjork, The Beatles, System of a Down, Beats Antique, A Perfect Circle, Oi Vai Voi. Key words: Progressive, tribal, acoustic, violin, hand drums, full kit, djembe, doumbek, tabla, vox, singer, odd-meter, violin, viola, cello, oboe, clarinet, oud, fusion, collaborate, collaborators, songwriter, drummer, bassist, multi-instrumentalist, 90s, alternative
