Current State Of "Med/Arb" in Family Law Cases in Dane County
Marta T. Meyers will review the current status of family law cases that are being decided by a hybrid process called “med/arb.” The parties sign contracts agreeing to first mediate the financial and/or custody and placement issues in their divorce, and, if they reach impasse, arbitrate any and all remaining disputed issues with the same third party neutral. The key to make this process work is to make sure the parties go in with eyes wide open. Marta T. Meyers will discuss the pros and cons of this method, along with tips for how to reach the best outcome.
