Join Matter News and Grey Matter Media for our first-ever community conversation fundraiser on Columbus neighborhoods and policing!
On Thursday, July 29 from 5-8pm, we're bringing our community together to perform and talk about the intersection of Matter News' two investigations: DevelopUS and Crossing the Line.
Join us for a donation-based:
- community panel
- mixer with Matter team
- community networking
- beer + snacks!
DevelopUS provides coverage of the changes people and their neighborhoods experience due to economic growth (think neighborhoods, gentrification, affordable housing, transportation) and Crossing the Line covers police accountability (think human/civil rights, brutality, reform).
The panel discussion and performances will center on segregation and inequity in Columbus, particularly as it relates to the ways in which historic disinvestment of neighborhoods has been met with record investments into the policing of those neighborhoods. Don't worry, we'll pepper in questions about solutions, too!
Stay tuned for the full speaker + performer lineup!
This is a fundraiser for Matter News and Grey Matter Media, an independent, local, women-founded news nonprofit serving central Ohioans investigative journalism that inspires civic engagement.
