Presented by Bergen County Rowing Academy and Hackensack Riverkeeper NEW for 2021! Kayak Races at the OVERPECK SUMMER SPRINTS REGATTA When: Saturday, July 31, 2021 Where: Overpeck County Park Park Entrance: 40 Fort Lee Rd. Leonia, NJ or enter park from: Challenger Road in Ridgefield Park, NJ. (Please note that the parking lot next to the launch site is dedicated for car topping only.) Come! Join in the fun for “A Day at (and in) the Races.” Whether you’re bringing your own boat to race or renting one of Hackensack Riverkeeper’s—this will surely be a day to remember! Come and watch the best rowing teams sprint to victory. The first rowing team races start at 8 AM. Then join in the fun with the Summer Sprints Kayak 2000-meter Race. This race is open to anyone 12 years of age or older, with separate men's and women's classes. • Check-in for the Kayak 2000-meter Race begins at 11:00AM • Racers launch at 12 noon. (All racers must be on the water 15 minutes prior to the race start.) • Race start is 12:15PM Friends and spectators are welcome. Be sure to register early, as rentals are limited! Categories include: SKM: Single Recreational Kayak Male SKF: Single Recreational Kayak Female OBM: Own Boat Male - Single Kayaks Only OBF: Own Boat Female - Single Kayaks Only Cost: $35.00 for rental includes race entry fee. Using your own boat is a $30 entry fee. Please note: All paddlers must wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD), in good and serviceable condition and of appropriate size for the intended user for the duration of the Races. PFDs will be provided to those who rent a boat. Anyone bringing their own boat must provide their own paddle and PFD. Weather: OVERPECK SUMMER SPRINTS REGATTA is rain or shine. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel the paddle day, registrants will receive an email and a voucher, which can be used at either of our paddling centers or 2021/2022 special event. Refunds: This event is a fundraiser, with all proceeds going directly to Hackensack Riverkeeper to help continue our mission to protect, preserve, and restore the Hackensack River Watershed. Your registration is a donation to the organization and is non-refundable. Thank you for supporting our work! Founded in 1997 by Captain Bill Sheehan, Hackensack Riverkeeper is the leading environmental organization working on Hackensack River issues. The group engages in a fourfold strategy of environmental action, advocacy, education and enforcement in its work to protect, preserve and restore the Hackensack River Watershed. Our ongoing efforts mean protected wetlands, cleanups of toxic sites, restored habitats, better public access, and a new appreciation for the “River of Many Bends”!
