Movement for Mental Health Awareness I want to keep bringing awareness to this topic and help make a small impact. There are many ways conditions of mental illness impact people. I believe supporting people who are struggling or know someone who is; and letting them know getting help is not embarrassing or shameful. It's just as important as taking care of our physical health. I want people to know they're not alone. I believe I can help impact the future, and that starts now. This weekend is a milestone age for me, 15 years old, and I believe I can help impact the future by starting now. In 2011 my father, Scott, lost his battle to bipolar depression and many other mental illness conditions. I thought of my father as a friend and a hero. To this day, he has taught me lessons that nobody else could guide me in such a short period. Scott wasn't only a role model to me, but he continued to shine his light down many peoples paths. I see signs everywhere, and I know he's with me every day in spirit, and he has let me know I'm supposed to be doing this. According to NAMI, mental health illness conditions affects a person's thinking, feeling or mood. Such conditions may affect someone's ability to relate to others and function each day. Each person will have different experiences, even people with the same diagnosis. I want people to know they can get help and feel like they're not alone. In honor of my dad's passing anniversary and his birthdy, 10 days before mine. This one is for him. This one is for the people fighting their battle. This one is for the people who need support and know their value. This is for my community and for kids like me who started with just a little heart to make a big impact.
