Description

Join us for a free concert by the lovely Mahr Quartet on Sunday at 3 at the Holy Family Community Center! The Mahr String Quartet was founded in the late 90s at UNO and plays about 50-60 gigs each year. These ladies possess a special chemistry as they both make music and "do life" together as dear friends. The MSQ is connected with the top venues and event planners in Omaha and enjoys collaborating with other musicians. While weddings are the most frequently booked event, the group also plays many cocktail receptions, surprise birthday parties and marriage proposals, holiday services and funerals. The MSQ specializes in Catholic weddings and has both a knack and true love for pop music. In February of 2020, the MSQ premiered pieces by Nebraska composers as part of the Omaha Under the Radar: Generator Series. They also performed a Valentine's concert at the National Music Museum in South Dakota and opened for the Thrive Women's Conference in Omaha. As individuals, these musicians have played with the Omaha, Lincoln, Sioux City and Des Moines Symphonies and have been hired as locals with a dozen Broadway shows and other national touring artists such as Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, Johnny Matthis, Mary J Blige, Michael Buble and of course, Omaha's own Mannheim Steamroller. Founding members Rachael and Melissa have toured China and the USA with the Mantovani orchestra and have thriving private studios both at home (Rachael) and at the Omaha Conservatory of Music (Melissa). Erin and Debbie are both incredible teachers for Millard Public Schools. Finally, all four ladies happen to be proud wives and mamas to both their human and fur babies.
