Join the Newport Tree Conservancy for a respectful stroll through the historic Island Cemetery. Founded in 1848, Island Cemetery is filled with impressive monuments, pre-revolutionary headstones, and beautiful mature trees. We will be looking at glorious specimen trees, evergreens, time-tested shrubs, and discussing the art of the garden cemetery. Working hand-in-hand with the City of Newport's Division of Forestry, the Newport Tree Conservancy is is dedicated to protecting, celebrating and replanting Newport's legendary urban forest.
