SOUTH HUNTINGTON, NY — A car show that will serve as a fundraiser for the family of late NYPD officer Anastasios Tsakos is scheduled for Aug. 29 in South Huntington.
Tsakos, 43, of East Northport, was struck and killed by a woman accused of driving drunk on the Long Island Expressway on April 27, officials said. Tsakos leaves behind a wife, Irene, and two children.
His funeral was May 4 in Greenlawn.
The fundraiser is to be held by the Police Surgeons Benevolent Association with the Centurion Cruisers Car Club. The show is due to start at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony's High School, located at 275 Wolf Hill Road, South Huntington.
A ticket for spectators is $5, and there will also be food vendors, entertainment and raffles.
Multiple fundraisers were organized for Tsakos's family.
Jessica Beauvais, 32, of Hempstead, had a 0.15 BAC level — nearly twice the legal limit — more than two hours after the crash, authorities said, ABC7 reported.
Beauvais streamed a video where she said, "f--- the police," just hours before she crashed into Tsakos, law enforcement told NBC News.
