Description

WALTHAM, MA — The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will be spraying pesticides to reduce mosquito populations in Waltham on Thursday, July 8. The spraying will take place between dusk and 11:30 p.m. in areas west of Bacon Street between Plympton Street and Curve Street. If postponed, the spraying will be rescheduled for next week. The pesticide being used is Zenivex E4, which will be applied at one ounce per acre. The product is a non-ester pyrethroid and is classified by the EPA as a reduced risk pesticide. Although the pesticide does not pose a significant risk to people in the amount used to control mosquitoes, residents should minimize their exposure and go inside for a few minutes if a spray truck is approaching. Closing windows during the spraying time is also advised. Anyone with questions can contact East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project at 781-899-5730. To view the spray schedule, click here.
