Description

Celebrate the Celtic Holiday of Lughnasadh with a Mead Tasting either at Black Rabbit Mead Company or via Zoom in your home. The Northern Nevada Celtic Celebration and Black Rabbit Mead Company will offer a mead tasting as one of our fundraising events to help save our festival. Black Rabbit Mead Company will host a tasting for us from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, August 1, which is appropriately the Celtic holiday of Lughnasadh marking the beginning of the harvest season. There two options how you can participate in the tasting. The conventional way is to attend in person and to sample from a flight of four mead samples of the 150 oz. glasses. The other option is to purchase a flight of four 150 oz. sealed bottles and participate via Zoom. The latter Zoom option will require you to pick up the bottles in advance. We can make arrangements to deliver the bottles to you and send you the Zoom coordinates prior to the date. The tasting will by conducted by Black Rabbit Mead Co. Will Truce. He will discuss the fermentation and distillation process as well as the various types and flavors. For those are wondering what is mead? In short, mead is honey wine. It’s honey and water fermented by yeast, but it can also be flavored with fruits, spices, grains and/or hops. It’s its own distinct category, somewhere between beer and wine. You’d sip it like a beer, wine, or cider. The Northern Nevada Celtic Celebration must raise funds this year in order cover certain overhead costs such as fees and insurance after being on a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Proceeds from this event will assist us in our fundraising campaign. Those who participate in the tasting on-site will have their door fees waived for entertainment later in the afternoon and evening. For more information on this event , call 775-378-0931.
