LUTZ, FL — No one was injured but members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's underwater recovery team had their hands full Saturday night when a driver skidded on a slick roadway and the car nose-dived into a retention pond off Lutz-Lake Fern Road in the Cheval subdivision.
The driver, the only occupant of the car, was able to get out safely.
"It's rainy season here in Florida," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We're urging drivers to be extra cautious when our roads are wet."
Sheriff's divers also recommend having a window punch and seatbelt cutter in your car at all times. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, these will help you escape.
