WESTFIELD, NJ — Bob McHugh, 57, of Westfield has begun making a five-day pilgrimage through New England with three friends, the way all of their fathers did before them.
McHugh's father David, now 83, first walked from Maine to Boston in 1973 with friends to raise money the Jimmy Fund for cancer research and patient care, says an article in the Boston Herald.
The younger McHugh and the friends, all of whom grew up in southern Maine, set off on their own long walk this past Tuesday at noon, the story says. Read more here.
The four also tell the story of themselves and their dads, with photos, on their fundraising page here. According to the page, they had raised $20,179 out of a $40,000 goal as of Wednesday evening.
