Description

HINGHAM, MA — Public ferry service from Hingham to Georges Island has resumed for the first time since summer 2019, connecting South Shore communities more directly to the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park. The ferry provides a route to the city by means of water, eliminating traffic and cutting down on emissions by dropping passengers to Georges Island, just over 7 miles from downtown Boston. Last year, the South Shore connection was not offered due to COVID-19 precautions. The daily ferry service provided by the MBTA and operated by Boston Harbor City Cruises allows residents of South Shore communities to have a full range of access to Georges Island and easy access to the city. Public ferry tickets can be purchased from the Hingham Shipyard at 28 Shipyard Drive and the first ferry departs for Georges Island every day at 10:00 a.m.
